1. Introduction

Cast to TV: Chromecast allows users to connect compatible phones, TVs, and casting devices and send supported content to a larger screen.

Depending on device and protocol support, the application may provide features for casting videos, photos, music, screen mirroring, playback control, and supported TV remote functions.

Casting availability depends on the phone, TV, streaming device, Wi-Fi network, operating system, and supported casting protocols.

By using the application, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We May Process

Depending on the features you use, the application may process certain technical and device-related information required to provide casting functionality.

This may include:

  • Information about available devices on the local network.
  • Device and connection information required for casting.
  • Network and Wi-Fi state information.
  • Information about selected media needed to initiate or control casting.
  • Technical information required to maintain a casting connection.
  • Application usage and diagnostic information through supported analytics and crash-reporting services.
  • Information required by advertising services when advertisements are displayed.

The application does not require you to create an account simply to use basic casting functionality.

3. Media and Casting Features

Cast to TV: Chromecast can allow you to select supported videos, photos, and music from your device and send or display them through a compatible TV or casting device.

Media selection and casting are initiated by you. The application uses the information necessary to identify and process the selected content and establish the requested casting connection.

The application does not claim ownership of the content you cast. You are responsible for ensuring that you have the appropriate rights or permission to access, display, or share any content through the application.

Important: Casting and screen mirroring depend on the capabilities of your phone, TV, streaming device, network, and supported protocols. Not every device supports every feature.

4. Permissions Used

The application requests Android permissions that are relevant to its casting, connectivity, screen-mirroring, notification, and related functionality.

Permission Purpose
BLUETOOTH_CONNECT Supports communication with compatible Bluetooth devices when required by supported device or casting functionality.
INTERNET Allows the application to communicate with online services and supported casting or streaming devices over network connections.
TRANSMIT_IR Supports infrared transmission on devices that provide compatible infrared hardware and functionality.
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE Allows the application to determine network connectivity status when establishing or maintaining supported connections.
ACCESS_WIFI_STATE Provides Wi-Fi connection information needed for supported network and casting functionality.
CHANGE_WIFI_MULTICAST_STATE Supports network discovery mechanisms that may use multicast communication to discover compatible casting devices on the local network.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE Allows eligible application operations to continue as a foreground service when required by supported functionality.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PROJECTION Supports foreground-service operation associated with screen capture or screen mirroring when the feature is supported and authorized by Android.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS Allows the application to display notifications when you have enabled notification access and the application uses notifications for supported functionality.

Android may allow you to control certain permissions through your device settings. If a required permission is denied, the corresponding feature may not work correctly.

5. Third-Party Services and SDKs

The application uses third-party libraries and services to support casting, networking, media playback, advertising, analytics, crash reporting, notifications, and application configuration.

Service / SDK / Component Purpose
Google Cast Framework Supports compatible Google Cast and casting-related functionality.

Third-party services may process information according to their own privacy policies and terms. Their data handling is governed by the applicable policies of those providers.

6. Device Discovery and Local Network Connections

The application may discover compatible TVs, streaming devices, or other supported devices available on the same local network.

Device discovery may use Wi-Fi network information, multicast discovery, supported casting protocols, Bluetooth functionality, or other connection methods supported by the device.

Information exchanged during a casting session may include technical connection information, device identifiers, media references, playback commands, and other information required to establish and control the connection.

The application does not claim to access unrelated devices or network content that is not required for the casting functionality you initiate.

7. Screen Mirroring and Media Projection

When you choose to use screen mirroring, Android's media projection framework may be used to capture the screen content you explicitly authorize for mirroring.

Screen mirroring is controlled by Android's system permission and user authorization mechanisms. The application cannot begin an authorized screen capture without the applicable Android approval.

Screen content may be transmitted to the selected compatible device as part of the mirroring session. You should avoid displaying sensitive information on your screen while mirroring if you do not want that information to appear on the connected display.

You can stop screen mirroring using the controls provided by Android or the application, depending on the device and implementation.

8. Advertising and Analytics

The application may display advertisements using Google Mobile Ads and related advertising components included in the application.

Advertising providers may process information such as advertising identifiers, device information, application interaction information, approximate location where permitted, and other technical information required to provide, measure, personalize, or protect advertising services.
